The Angola Choir Coceval
The Angola Choir called Coceval (
Coro Central Da Igreja Evangelica Baptista Em Angola R.P.A
) originates from Luanda in Angola. The choir are
a result of the Civil War and many members of the choir has lived
in exile in former Zaire during the Civil War.
Coceval came to Denmark in 1991 where I happened to see them for
the first time in the Church called Købner Kirken on the
Island of Amager in Copenhagen.
They were brought here by Svend-Erik Jørgensen who worked
and lived in Luanda Angola as well as lived in Birkerød and
worked in Copenhagen in a company called African Services. Svend-Erik
Jørgensen brought them to the Church of Christ (Kristus Kirken)
in Copenhagen.
They came back the year after in 1992 and stayed here for a month,
touring the country in two busses. I happened to be available at
the time so I spend the whole month with the choir and drove the
small bus to all our concert destinations.
The Angola Choir Coceval visited many churches on the Island of
Sealand Denmark. They also went to Ålborg in Jutland Denmark
as well as to Malmoe City in Sweden.
I did not only drive the bus, but I also took lots of photos of
the Angola Choir Coceval. These photos can be viewed from the menu
to the left in the photos menu.
The visit of Coceval in Kristuskirken initially helped starting
the Choir Sound Of Gospel,
then a part of Kristuskirken now a part of Brorsons
kirken
The whole story about the Angola Choir Coceval is coming soon.
